Crewe is a railway town with a population of just under 70,000 located in Cheshire East, England. The railway station is one of the largest in the North West and is a major interchange station on the West Coast Main Line, connecting it to London and Edinburgh.
Queen's Park is the town's main park, and is currently undergoing a £6.5 million transformation. The main shopping area is the Market Shopping Centre, which attracts almost a quarter of a million people every week. The railways have always played a big part in the local industry. Crewe Works carries out train maintenance and inspection and is now owned by Bombardier Transportation. Although not as many people work there as once before, there is still an electric locomotive maintenance depot to the north of the railway station. The Bentley car factory employs 3500 people, and was used to produce Rolls Royce cars as well until the prestige brand was bought by BMW recently. Opportunities exist in engineering, finance, logistics, information systems, purchasing, sales and other fields. The nearby BAE Systems factory produces small arms ammunition for the British armed forces.
