The county of Herefordshire is historically known as “the land of milk and honey,” with the cathedral city of Hereford being a centre of trade for wider agricultural produce such as cider, beer leather goods and cattle including the famous Hereford breed. The city lies on the River Wye approximately 16 miles east of the border with Wales and 24 miles of south west of Worcester. As a result of the wider county being a centre for cider production with its many many acres of orchards, a number breweries and associated organisations have their base here, many at the Rotherwas industrial estate.

Public Health Service
Major public service employers in the area include Herefordshire Council and the NHS. Both of these organisations offer a vast range of positions with varying levels of education and experience required as well as varying levels of pay. Many jobs in the NHS which traditionally offered on the job training such as paramedic now require entrants to secure a place as a student paramedic either with a trust or a university offering a recognised course. Applicants typically need 5 GCSES including English, maths and a science as well as two A-levels or equivalent.
Bulmers Cider
Bulmer's Cider is also a major employer producing brands including Strongbow, Bulmer's and Woodpecker. In 2012 the company celebrated 125 years of successful business and in 2011 trends showed that the cider market was growing despite an overall drop in alcohol sales growth in general. Jobs are varied from marketing and production-control to machine work that may involve shifts. There is also a museum dedicated to cider production in the town with roles including education and outreach as well as more general work such as reception.
