Famous for its bridge, football team, rugby clubs and cream-coloured telephone boxes! The city, based beside the Humber estuary, combines a strong industrial heritage with an envious position in East Riding and some of Yorkshire's most beautiful countryside.
Hull's geographic location on an estuary leading to the North Sea has ensured its success as a commercial port. Today 1m passengers pass through the port and 90m tonnes of cargo and both people and crate need employees to service the vital infrastructure. This has led to a number of industries around the port, not least Hull's Associated British Ports division on the Humber.

The healthcare and chemical industries are key to the city’s economy and several large British companies have factories in Hull. BP has a large petro chemicals site at Saltend, providing many jobs. Smith and Nephew was founded here and their factory manufactures medical devices, whilst the Seven Seas plant produces vitamins and other supplements. Reckitt Benckiser also has a large operation providing many jobs opportunities - making everything from headache tablets to dishwasher powder.
While Hull stand out as an impressive economic powerhouse, the surrounding countryside in East Riding is one of the least populated parts of the country, attracting thousands of tourists and a significant leisure industry of its own. Don't overlook the career potential jobs in this sector might provide.
