Hull's geographic location on an estuary leading to the North Sea has ensured its success as a commercial port. Today 1m passengers pass through the port and 90m tonnes of cargo and both people and crate need employees to service the vital infrastructure. This has led to a number of industries around the port, not least Hull's Associated British Ports division on the Humber.
