The most visible face of Leicester's technological side is the National Space Centre - a visitor attraction that attracts thousands of tourists each year. So it's not too surprising that the East Midlands Development Agency decided to site a science park there. One of the first to move in will be technology company Zeeko which already has an office at Coalville. The award-winning company is looking to almost double its workforce as it moves in to the new £2.2m factory. Watch out for other technology companies in the city that are making the most of the two universities based there.

The city boasts a number of other world-famous sports clubs and centres. Leicester City FC, the rugby union side Leicester Tigers (based at Welford Road Stadium), the county cricket club is based in the city and the Leicester Riders basketball team. In addition to this there are many sports venues offering roles in the sport and leisure industry ranging from centre managers, teaching sport, coaching and physiotherapy.

Highcross and the Haymarket Shopping Centres are the two flagship centres in the city but if you're looking for work in the retail sector consider the many busy shopping streets in the city or its suburbs. There are also numerous stores and distribution centres based on the edge of the city.

Walkers Crisps is one of the great brand names associated with Leicester  - a city that has many claims to food fame. The city's is renowned for its many authentic Indian restaurants and nearby Melton Mowbray is home to the world famous pork pies. It's also famous for its cheeses of course - all industries which offer varied and rewarding jobs.

Leicester is populated by thousands of small and medium-sized businesses - all of them requiring business support in the form of admin, finance and human resource functions. Graduate training schemes are often provided by the larger accountancy and finance firms.
