There are many jobs around the world that most people would not want to do. If you think your job is bad now, you could be in for a shock when you see some of the worst employment positions in the world. However, if you are looking for new jobs then you could consider some of the following options as, due to their nature, positions can often pay quite well.
1. Portaloo Cleaner
If you have ever been to a festival such as Glastonbury or Reading then you will know how bad the portaloos can become after just a few hours. Some unlucky souls have the responsibility of cleaning them so that they are fit for use again.
2. Sewer Cleaner
Like portaloo cleaning, sewer cleaning is not the nicest job in the world. However, in the UK, workers are provided with protective gear to stop health hazards, and the position often comes with a very good salary.
3. Crime Scene Cleaner
Though you may enjoy crime shows on the television, actually being a crime scene cleaner is far from glamorous. After investigators have taken all the evidence that they need, cleaners have to clear the scene. This often includes removing human remains and bloody stains, and is only for those with a strong stomach.
4. Police Diver
If you are a keen diver, becoming a police diver may not seem like a bad idea. However, rather than exploring coral reefs, divers are often thrown into inhospitable conditions such as muddy lakes and murky rivers in an attempt to look for body parts or evidence.
5. Fish Gutter
Factory lines are never very glamorous, but if you are a fish gutter, you will have to spend the entire day removing the innards of the fish moving along the conveyer belt.
6. Embalmer
Embalming is much more popular in the US than it is in the UK, but in some circumstances people do want their loved ones embalmed. This involves draining all the bodily fluid and replacing it with a mixture of chemicals, before trying to make the body look nice by applying makeup or giving it a shave.
7. Traffic Warden
Traffic wardens are people that society loves to hate. If you are looking for jobs in the South East or East Midlands, you may well be able to find traffic warden positions. However, you should be ready to defend yourself against more than a few unhappy customers.
8. Athletes’ Urine Tester
Sporting events across the world are hugely popular, but you may often hear stories of athletes failing their routine urine tests. For some people, their daily work routine includes testing pots of urine for the entire day.
9. Animal Fluffer
In the farming industry, there is the need to inseminate animals with the best sperm for breeding purposes. If you are an animal fluffer, it means that your work includes collecting the sperm from male animals before freezing it and sending it to buyers.
10. Breath Odour Tester
In the same way that chocolate or wine needs to be tested before it lands on the supermarket shelves, mouthwash and chewing gum products also need testing. This means that a worker has to evaluate breath before and after product use.
