BAE Systems is a major employer in Preston and over the years, its presence has helped to make the city a centre for the national aerospace industry. With several offices and manufacturing sites in the area, BAE Systems accounts for a significant proportion of local jobs. Its military aircraft HQ is in nearby Warton and it has another large site at Samlesbury.
