The seaside resort of Weston-Super-Mare is situated in Somerset. Famous for being a popular tourist destination, the town is undergoing a regeneration programme in order to boost the declining tourist trade. The town is governed by a unitary authority - North Somerset Council. They announced that a £50million Leisure Dome would be built, housing the biggest artificial ski slope in Britain.
Weston-Super-Mare is close to junction 21 on the M5 motorway where signs to the seafront lead you into the town. The train station is close to the town centre and offers a direct train to London Paddington, as well as services to Cardiff, Birmingham and to the north. The nearest major airport is 20 miles away at Bristol Airport, offering international and domestic flights.

North Somerset Council is among the biggest employers in the town. Working in public administration is an ideal career for school leavers, those wanting a change from working in the private sector or for graduates. Local government roles can mean offering support and help to the public, assisting with social care, managing leisure facilities and a range of other worthwhile roles. Graduates should watch out for the National Graduate Development Programme - a graduate scheme for local government throughout England and Wales.
The tourist industry in the town can offer full-time and part-time roles; these however are often seasonal vacancies due to the winter months being very quiet for visitors to the area. The town’s Sovereign Shopping Centre houses 35 stores including Marks & Spencer, who offer a range of opportunities. These include a UK and International Graduate scheme, a trainee management scheme and various store and head office roles. Marks and Spencer can offer any of its employees the chance to work their way up the company ladder.
